English 4: One Country to Explore, a Mission to Complete invites students to deeply explore the country where they belong to so they can define their mission as an individual immersed in society. The syllabus contains three thematic units: Discovering destinations deals with the intangible wealth of our country in places with a high cultural, historical and scientific value; Encounters promotes the recognition of the learners’ cultural roots and the sense of belonging they have to their country; and, Agents of Change, explores what we were, what we are, what we might become and do, and the challenges students will have to face as professionals in the future. These thematic units are complemented by an academic focus e-Task, Predatory Journals: A threat to Scientific Divulgation, which focuses on helping students to understand the characteristics and features of expository and argumentative texts.
